Ongoing Research on Biofertilizers at Healthy Food & Feed Company Ltd (HFC Ltd)
HFC Ltd. is conducting innovative research focused on developing biofertilizers using a combination of spirulina waste,
chicken manure, and terra preta. This project leverages the company's commitment to sustainable agriculture and circular
economy principles, utilizing organic waste products to create nutrient-rich fertilizers.
1. Spirulina Waste:
Spirulina, a nutrient-rich microalgae, produces significant organic waste during cultivation.
HFC Ltd’s research is exploring the potential of this waste as a key component in biofertilizers,
particularly for its high nitrogen content and trace minerals..
2. Chicken Manure:
As a readily available agricultural by-product, chicken manure is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus,
and potassium (NPK). The ongoing research focuses on optimizing the composting process to improve
its nutrient profile and reduce the risk of pathogen contamination.
3. Terra Preta:
Terra preta, an ancient type of fertile soil enriched with biochar, plays a crucial role in improving
soil structure and nutrient retention. HFC Ltd aims to incorporate modern biochar techniques to enhance
the long-term fertility and carbon sequestration potential of its biofertilizers. The goal of this research
is to develop eco-friendly, organic fertilizers that are cost-effective and sustainable, while also contributing
to regenerative agricultural practices. This aligns with HFC Ltd’s broader mission of promoting environmental
sustainability through their 3Fs model: food, feed, and fertilizer.
